Picking One's Own

We went to a 'pick your own' this afternoon. On the menu was asparagus, strawberries, rhubarb and gooseberries. We plumped for the asparagus and strawberry field.

The asparagus was great and we came home with bundles of the stuff (God help our toilet for the next few days). The strawberries however were a bit green. Probably a combination of it still being quite early in the season, but also I think everyone else had got there earlier today and picked all the best ones.

The boys had fun running up and down the straw-laden rows. Theo more so than Charlie, who seems to want to be held all the time at the moment. We did try them on their reins but they soon tired of them so we just let them run free (bringing havoc to the farm). Here's some pics of our day:

Baby Bio Baby

Today, we spent the afternoon in the garden. No 'baby proofing' it this time but planting lots of plants. We also planted an apple tree, which we've had in a pot for several years, into the borders. After much trying, Theo just wouldn't stand in the hole so we could take a picture. Charlie however, was far more obliging:

Down on the Farm (again)

We went to Godstone Farm again last weekend. The weather was absolutely gorgeous.

Parents Evening

We've attended our first parent's evening! Admittedly it was only at the nursery, but it was good to hear what the boys get up to there.

The best bit though had to be sitting on the little kiddy chairs they have! Seriously discussing your childs development whilst praying that the chair legs aren't going to splay out in all directions wasn't easy.

Anyway, the boy's Primary Carer was very happy with their development and the way they've settled in over the last few months. She even admitted how excited they all were when they found out twins were joining the nursery - she also admitted that the boys were her favourites - but of course, we always knew that.. ;-)

Runnin' Down That Hill

OK, so it's not a HUGE hill, but the boys did have fun running down it (and falling over at the end!)

Garden Safety

We've spent quite a bit of time these last few weeks sorting out the garden and making it safe for the boys to use. I think we're there now so, apart from some planting (non-poisonous plants, that is), the boys are free to roam at their leisure.

That was, until we heard a cry from Charlie who had tripped over and smacked his face on the patio - cutting his lip! Apart from digging the patio up and replacing it with that stuff you see in playgrounds, we're not going to stop that kind of thing - and anyway, the odd bump or bruise here and there shouldn't do them any harm, should it?

The Wicker (Basket) Man

Find a box, and Theo will sit in it. He'll then demand that you drag him around the room!

Dining in the Garden

With such lovely weather this weekend, we decided to have Sunday lunch with the boys in the garden. We don't usually eat at the same time as them (when we're at home) so this was a nice change to the routine.

On the menu today was home made burgers, chips and salad. The burgers would have been done on the barbecue but the gas ran out just as I was firing it up!

Wake Up Boys!

The boys still love their lunchtime nap. If we didn't go and wake them, it wouldn't surprise me if they slept all afternoon. Although, that would more than likely severely bugger up their normal bedtime routine!

Anyway, here's a couple of pictures of the boys as they wake from post lunchtime slumber. Cute eh?

High Chair Choo Choo

Theo has developed an unhealthy obsession with the high chairs!

Not only does he like to lock the straps in place (whether he's in the chair or not!) - he also loves to sit between the legs and riding along!

It's a Dog Fight

Team Burchell moved out to the garden this afternoon - being such a lovely sunny day.

All the usual multi-coloured kids toys came out, but one thing entertained the boys more than anything else - Monty.

They decided to taunt him with a stick - and unsurprisingly not long after that, I was picking sharp shards off the lawn...

DIY Lunchtime

Lunchtime may be getting less labour intensive as the boys get older, but they are definitely getting messier.

Both of them are not only mastering the art of holding a spoon, but also mastering the art of navigating it from the bowl to the mouth without spilling 95% of the contents onto the table or their lap. The final step seems to be ensuring that the majority doesn't just end up being smeared over the face. Although that makes for some good pictures....

Is it just us that think it's clever that Theo can put a glove on his own hand without any assistance whatsoever?

We went to Godstone Farm today. What a fab place for a day out. There was so much for the boys to do! Some highlights from the day below or click here for the complete set of pictures.

Plug Hole

Who would have thought that taking the plug out of the bath would generate such mass hysteria!

Charlie loves to watch the water swirling round as it leaves the bath, pointing at it, waving and saying 'Bye!'. Theo meanwhile, is slightly more cautious and watches with suspicion over Charlie's shoulder from the other end of the bath.

It's hilarious and we'll see if we can capture some video of it soon.

See Saw...

We bought this because we thought it would be nice for the boys to have something that they can play on together. Theo obviously has other ideas...

iPod Tantrum

Watch Theo 'borrow' Daddy's iPod from the stairs, decide he's going to use it as a phone (it's not an iPhone, Theo), then have a massive tantrum when Mummy take it off his hands.

Meanwhile, Charlie happily rides his hobby horse around the hallway!
