Water Babies - Second Term
No rest for the wicked! After their successful graduation last week, the boys were straight back into it for their second term at swimming.
It was a fairly light session this week, involving a recap of everything we did in the first term (although I think this was more for the benefit of the new woman taking the course to assess everyone's abilities than it was for us).
Poor Charlie had to sit this week out (for the sake of his health as much as for the safety of the pool!) following his stomach bug from the last few days. So Daddy sat with him by the edge of the pool and watched.

Word of The Week - Ma Ma
We've had Da Da, well now it seems we can also add Ma Ma to the mix.
Both boys are fluent in a constant stream of "Da da da da da" and "Ma ma ma ma ma" when the feeling takes it.

All I Want for Christmas is.....
Ouch! What's that biting us? Yes, it's Charlie and Theo's top front teeth!
Charlie's started to appear about 3 days before Theo's did, but there is definitely something poking through their gums! Oh joy, more bite marks for us to contend with....

Weigh Hey! (again)
Another visit to the Health Visitor the other day for another weigh-in.
Looks like Theo is starting to pull ahead a bit from his brother! Theo was 22lbs 7oz and Charlie was 20lbs 10oz. We think it may be down to the fact that Charlie has recently started crawling - burning up the calories - where as Theo has been all over the place for weeks now.

Bleurghhh.....
Poor Charlie has been unwell these last few days. He's obviously had a bit of a stomach bug (judging by the projectile vomitting at every meal and the contents of his nappies - phew!!). As such, he's been on plain, simple food - none of the exotic stuff (like homemade fish fingers and lasagne!) that they have been sampling recently. He's also been a lot more tired and grumpy - which is certainly not his normal character.
He's on the mend now which is great to see, but we've constantly been disinfecting surfaces and wiping everything down in order to ensure that Theo doesn't pick it up too.

Ouch!
The inevitable safety precautions are being installed in the Burchell kitchen to prevent little fingers being caught in doors (or pots and pans being strewn all over the floor)!
Cupboard door catches, door closers, electrical socket covers - you name it, there all going in the house.

Water Babies - Week 9 (Graduation Day)
It's Graduation Day!
Theo and Charlie have passed their first swimming course!
This was the final week of their swimming lessons and a recap of all the the different swims they've learnt over the last 9 weeks.
They got a certificate at the end and a badge to say they've passed their 'Ducklings' course.
Next week, we start level 2 - Cygnets!

Down They Go! (Again)
Uh Oh! Guess who has now worked out how to stand up in his cot? Forget all this kneeling up business, Theo is now fully standing on two feet!
As such, the cots have had to go down yet again, to the lowest possible level.
Theo is also enjoying the challenge that is Mt. Mummy Everest and Mt. Daddy Everest. If we're on the floor, you can guarantee that Theo will be along to clamber all over us. If only he could find something less painful to grip hold of in his ascent than hair!

High Chair Heaven / Hell
We could probably start a whole website reviewing the quality of different high chairs in coffee shops / restaurants etc. They vary so much from the completely rubbish and frankly, unsafe (Starbucks) to the actually rather good (Coffee Republic - see pic below). Watch our for more of this detailed analysis of public high chair antics in the coming months!

Water Babies - Week 8
Bit late with this post as well.
Second to last week of swimming! We did all the usual activities plus we did two new swims. One with floats and an underwater swim away from us towards the instructor.
Last session next week and the boys will be graduating!

Water Babies - Week 7 - Smile Please!
This week there was no swimming activity, the entire session was given over to having underwater pictures taken of the boys.
We should have them back in a week or so - look out for them on here!

Horizontal to Vertical
In the last two days, Theo has started to pull himself into an upright position!
Anything he can get his hands on, he will clamber up until he's standing upright. Admittedly, he soon falls over again but it's a start!
Charlie meanwhile is still trying to work out how to crawl properly. In the meantime, he continues to roll back and forth until he reaches his destination....
