Back to Sleep Boys!

Not sure what's happened recently but they both seem to be sleeping quite lightly at the moment. They seem to have got into a bit of a routine of waking at about 21:00, having a little cry and then drifting back off to sleep again.

Sometimes Theo wakes up at this time, is wide awake and needs a massive cuddle before he'll settle back down again. Charlie meanwhile likes to wake at about 04:00 but again, drifts back off quite quickly.

Maybe it's teething?

Weigh Watch

It's been a while since we've updated you on the boys weights so, let's rectify that now!

Clair went to the Health Visitor today and Theo weighs a bouncy 20lbs 10oz and Charlie weighs 20lbs exactly.

Their weight gain has slowed down slightly, but they're still growing at the correct speed. Interestingly, the weight difference between them has hardly changed at all and remained constant at each weighing session.

Illness

Wow, what a week!

Poor Theo - he's been really poorly these last few days. Between last Saturday and Wednesday, he's had a high temperature, an ear infection, thrown up all his food several times and had really bad teething pain. We've had all manner of problems getting him to sleep - some nights, he's been up until 3am!

He's better now but it's been a real challenge to our parenting skills - I'm sure there are many many more similar challenges yet to come!

How quick are they growing up!

Activity Centre Overload....

Theo always seems to get the most time in the baby walker we bought recently. Mainly because he's the first to get bored laying on the playmat!

So, to redress the balance, we've bought an activity centre for Charlie to sit in. This isn't a baby walker as it has a fixed base but it has so much going on, I think Charlie gets a bit overloaded after a while!

Hmm, hang on a mo, this toy looks suspiciously similar to one we saw back in June last year. Here's the link.

Anyway, here's the handsome pair in their respective toys...

Toothy Peg Charlie

Charlie's first two front teeth are just starting to poke through his gums. That makes it a level draw on the teeth front at 2 - 2!

No Sleep till Lunchtime

Saturday night was possibly one of the most sleepless nights we've had since those first few testing months of Theo and Charlie's lives.

Theo has had the sniffles for a few days and he's been waking every so often during the night - but soon falls back off to sleep. Not so last night.

He awoke, screaming at about 1am and despite every trick we know to try and get him back off to sleep, NOTHING would work. Charlie meanwhile hardly murmured. Eventually at about 3:30, Theo drifted off......for about half an hour. He was then awake for about another hour before Charlie decided that he'd had enough sleep and took the baton from Theo!

It was now about 6am and we'd had about 30 mins sleep since Theo first woke. They both stayed asleep until around 6:45 when we gave up and got them and ourselves up. The best though was yet to come.

We feed them breakfast in their high chairs at about 7:30 but at about 7:45, Charlie decided he wanted to see all the milk we'd fed him 30 minutes earlier - all over himself, the highchair, the floor - I think even Monty got a splash!

A quick clean up later and during a post-breakfast rest in their cots, Theo also decided that his breakfast needed to make another appearance! Marvellous.

I suppose the fact that we're writing about this just goes to show how unusual a night it was. In the main, they have both been absolute angels at night since about 3 months. Let's hope last night was a one off....

Bodybuilding Mama

Carrying two 20lb babies is having an amazing effect on Clair's body!

Bulging biceps is not a by-product that we were expecting from having kids but Clair's muscles are certainly tight and lean!

Let's hope they learn to walk soon otherwise she may end up looking like this...

Hello Everybody!

Theo and Charlie just wanted to say hello to everybody! Feel free to say hello back...

Hello Everybody!

Twin Transportation Stage 2

Seven months old and we're already having to bin the car seats we bought for the boys before they were born!

Luckily though, these next car seats should last them until they are about 3 - 4 years old. What's also nice is that we can now see the guys in the back seats as these ones can face forward. Whether they want to be looking at us though is another thing!

Here's a link to the ones we've bought - they look VERY grown up in them (sniff, sniff, oh my boys... sniff)

Toothy Peg Theo Part 2

His second tooth is on the up. No sign of anything poking through Charlie's gums yet!

Water Babies Week 1

Charlie and Theo are now 'Ducklings'! That's the name given to the first term of their swimming class - they had their first lesson yesterday (Sunday).

The class only consisted of about 8 babies (plus 8 adults as well!) and it was great fun.

Charlie was a bit more confident and calm in the water than Theo was (no surprises there!) and we did things such as:
  1. getting them used to feeling water running down their face
  2. encouraging them to kick along in the water from one side of the pool to the other
  3. doing backstroke
  4. bobbing up and down to nursery rhymes!
All fairly tame things to start with but the idea is that after the 10 weeks course, they should be comfortable with being underwater for a few strokes. Gulp!

One thing that was fairly woeful though was our knowledge of the words to the nursery rhymes we did! We're definitely going to need to brush up in advance of the next lesson.

Anyway, here's a pic of the boys on the drive home. Poor little things...!

The Chuckle Brothers

Theo and Charlie are really starting to enjoy each others company now. It's great fun to watch them laughing at each other. Here's a clip to demonstrate!

Theo is crawling.....

....every way other than forwards!

Yes that's right, he can crawl backwards (slowly) and he can pivot through 360 degrees. He just can't seem to sort himself out with crawling in a forwardly direction.

He'll get it one of these days but for the moment, no amount of tempting with his favourite toys is making him want to move forwards!
