The Teething Demon

The Teething Demon has been visiting Theo over the last couple of days. We could have filled a swimming pool with the drool that's been coming out of his mouth! We think it must be the big molars at the back - Charlie had his through a few weeks back.

Unfortuately, it also seems to have coincided with a bad sore throat and the poor boy is obviously in pain - Calpol to the rescue then! Last night, we thought we were going to have to resort to a late night drive again to get him to sleep. Luckily, he decided it was all too much and drifted off to sleep at about 21:00.

Sand Fun

We bought the boys a sand pit the other weekend and the recent warm weather has given us the perfect opportunity to test it out in the garden. Here's some pictures of the boys playing in the sand with Nanny.

Nee Naw Nee Naw...

The fire engine from Nanny and Grampy's house has made an appearance in the Burchell garden for the summer! Here's some pics of Nanny following the boys to the scene of the fire..

Fun in the Garden

The recent sunny weather has meant the boys have had their first (proper) taste of the garden. Last summer, they were a bit too young to run around and enjoy the fresh air.

Nursery 2.0

The boys have spent their first few nights in the new nursery. They've been a little unsettled but I expect that's only normal. At least there's a bit more room here for when we need to sleep on the floor to keep them quiet!

Here's a pic of the new room (albeit a VERY similar layout to the old room)

Gymbo Time!

Here's some pictures from our weekly Gymboree session!

Despite the look in these photos, the boys do seem to really enjoy it - although I sometimes think that Clair and I are having a better time than the boys!

Happy Mummy's Day!

It's been Mother's Day today and the boys kindly offered Daddy's Sunday lunch cooking skills to Mummy as a treat for her special day.

With the sun shining, it made sense to rev up the barbecue (first time this year) and cook a whole leg of Lamb - yum!

A post lunch walk to the swings in the sun and the boys were suitably exhausted and ready for tea, bath and bed.

A Happy Second Mother's Day Mummy...  xx

Where's your nose?

Over the last week, we've been teaching the boys to point at parts of their face. So far, they've learnt 'nose', 'eyes', 'mouth', 'head' and (especially for Theo) 'tummy'!

We're trying to do a new body part every day...

Broom Broom!

Housework Boot Camp is going down well with Charlie. Either that, or he currently has an unusual obsession with brooms!

When wandering atound the house, he absolutely HAS to have a broom in his hand - either the 2 foot long toy broom we recently bought him or (preferably) the 4 foot kitchen broom we use for sweeping the floor. Now, if only he could control it properly, we'd be onto a winner....

Changing Rooms - Team Burchell Style

We've been decorating today!

The boys are  fast growing out of their nursery and whilst we're not going to be moving them out of their cots quite yet, they would benefit from having a bigger room to play around in.

As such, this weekend has been spent painting one of the other bedrooms in preparation for the move - which will probably be next weekend. Watch this space....

Sick, Sick, Sick, Sick, Sick...

We've suffered an almost constant stream of colds, coughs, runny noses and the like in the Burchell household over the last few weeks. I know this is very typical of young babies and toddlers, especially as they're now interacting with other children in a nursery but it's almost been beyond a joke!

On top of the normal coughs and colds, they've both had conjunctivitis, an ear infection (Theo in 1 ear, Charlie in both) and a chesty cough (Theo)!

This has obviously resulted in some really restless nights but we seem to be beyond the worst of it now and thankfully, the last few nights have been completely peaceful.

It's amazing the difference it makes to the way we feel as well

Theo and Charlie and Chips...

Some pictures of the boys enjoying Fish and Chips on a recent lunchtime eating out. Their plates were quite big, but no where near 4 times the size of their heads as it seems in these pictures! The wonders of a wide angle lens...

Happy Christening Anniversary! (almost...)

Last week, we received a letter from the church where the boys were christened, a year ago this month. They were having a family service at 09:30 this Sunday and had invited us along.

We took the boys' christening candles with us and during the service we were invited up to the front to have their candles re-lit. We took some pictures of the boys in the grounds of the church after the service and someone also kindly took some pictures of us all....

First Haircut

The boys had their first haircut today! We realised it was about time when Charlie's hair started to look like Dennis Waterman.

Theo was up first and sat incredibly calmly on Daddy's lap (even taking the odd phone call during the process)

Then it was Charlie's turn and he (equally) calmly sat on Mummy's lap.

We'll post some pics of the final look tomorrow!
